Dear friends of Matènwa,
It is always a joy to send you new updates of all the different activities that are happening at the school.
September 5th, 2016 was the official dateset by the government for all schools across the country to open. As usual for MCLC, from the first day of school, all students, parents, and teachers were present and ready to start the new school year. We raised the flag together to sing the national anthem. We had 150 primary students present in total. We held a meeting with the parents to review the school’s mission, as well as present the committees and programs set for the new school year. The parents signed school contracts to receive educational materials. Teachers and students focused on creating great classroom environments by working together to create rules and principles they agreed to abide by throughout the year.
Student Party
To show appreciation for our ninth graders who passed the 2015 – 2016 state exams, we held a party to celebrate their success and to motivate all of our students to study harder. Twenty of the twenty six students who took the test passed! LKM also used the occasion to honor 3 of its teachers who successfully passed the 13th grade exam. Next year, our goal is to have one hundred percent of our students succeed in the ninth grade state’s exams. For the first time ever we will also send students to the national 12th grade exam.
School Trainings
From September 7th to 10th, 28 teachers and principals from five Lagonav schools were trained at LKM. These schools will implement the principles taught at LKM.
The training covered:
1- School Gardens
2- Mother Tongue Books
3- The Ministry of Education’s Primary School Curriculum
4- The official Creole Orthography
