Do you have access to water?
For World Water Day, MCLC is trying to give more access water to as many families as possible. In Lagonav, a person uses an average of 2.5 gallons of water per day. Our main source of drinking water is a twenty-minute walk from the school. The school has some built in cisterns and water chateaus to store rainwater. This water allows us to maintain our gardens even during the dry season.
With your donations following Hurricane Matthew, we built each new home with a cement cistern attached. These families now have more access to water and are creating home vegetable gardens. Each cistern costs 500 dollars. Each plastic chateau with full installation costs 350 dollars. With the help of our donors, we hope to give out 100 water chateaus to 100 families in 8 communities this year. We have already installed 75 chateaus!
Help us get to 100!
